What is the
Whitefield 100 Golf Marathon
?
This is an incredibly fun event which will raise some serious money for the scholarship fund at Whitefield Academy.
It is a way for golfers (or non-golfing fundraising partners) to rally support while doing something they enjoy.
A marathon is more fun and substantially more profitable than a typical golf tournament.
Here's the Fun Part…
No kidding – you will play 100 holes, maybe more!
Here are a few ways we’ll help speed up play:
Every golfer has his own cart, and plays “ready golf” – reach your ball and hit away.
Golfers may hit multiple balls on selected holes, and each ball counts as one hole played.
We limit the field to about 40 players so you’ll feel like you have the course all to yourself!
No looking for lost balls, OB's, etc. – merely drop another ball and keep hitting.
If you get to triple bogey, pick up and move on, and any putt inside the leather is a "gimme."
Play any hole, or series of holes, in any order as many times as you want.
What's In It for Me?
Besides a lot of fun and the satisfaction of helping Whitefield in a big way, you will receive...
·
Food, refreshment and fun all day, and plenty of golf balls to smack away!
Great prizes based on the amount of pledges that you have raised, along with contests on the course.
Ok, What's the Catch?
Well, there really isn't any other than your commitment.
Each participant agrees to do three things:
·
Sponsor yourself in advance for at least $1 per hole ($100 or more), fully tax deductible.
·
Give a day & play golf at the golf course.
·
Solicit sponsorships from business associates and friends with a goal of raising an additional $24 per hole.
That amounts to $2,500 each golfer can raise for this most worthwhile cause. So, you can see with a field of 40 golfers, each raising $2,500, we could reach our goal of $100,000. WOW!
Have confidence you can achieve your goal.
We’ll coach you and help every step of the way.
"Gimme" the Details
The
Whitefield 100
Golf Marathon will be played on
October 13, 2008
at the
Blue Hills Country Club
in Kansas City.
This is a rare opportunity to play all day at an exclusive and historic private golf course! Our day looks like this:
·
Breakfast at sun up, followed by a shotgun start.
·
Flail away for at least 100 holes.
·
Marathon stops when it either gets too dark to see, or the golf course staff runs us off.
Go home, soak your muscles, rub on some Ben Gay and smile a lot - you've done a great thing!
Did You Say I Could Win Some Great Prizes?
Yep!
Prize and award levels are still being determined, but all participants will be well-rewarded, and those who reach the goal of $25 per hole or more will be treated to some special gifts.
Have Questions?
Want to sign up?
Want to help in some other way?
Good!
Pick up the phone and give us a call.
Dr. Tom Reed is our Player Captain leading the charge for this event, and Doug Bachtel is assisting.
Our success will be heavily dependent on our ability to recruit fundraising golfers and we need help doing that.
You may contact Tom at 913-710-0007 or Doug at 913-209-9790.
By the way, the Whitefield Board of Directors and Mr. Selby are leading by their example and participating as active fundraisers in this campaign!
