Whitefield Academy Dress Code



Boys in "Dress Uniform" before the Christmas Concert.


Our dress code policy is driven by a desire to create and promote an environment of learning where dress is not a distraction to the educational process. Dress code should be followed while on campus, even after school hours, unless specified otherwise.  The Headmaster or designee will make final determinations regarding dress code.


Girls K-6

  • Designated jumper or skirt in the designated school plaid
  • Designated shorts, skorts, skirts or slacks in solid navy blue
  • Shirts:
    • Designated short or long-sleeved white or hunter green  polo or turtleneck
    • Plain white blouse with a peter pan collar – short or long-sleeved
    • Designated sweaters or vests in navy or hunter green with school logo/crest over collared shirts
    • Designated sweatshirts in navy, hunter green or gray with school logo/crest over collared shirts
  • Shoes and socks:
    • Socks or tights must be navy, hunter green or white and cover the ankle
    • Tennis shoes or dark dress shoes with closed toe and solid back
  • Dress Uniform:
    • K-3: Jumper, long-sleeve peter pan blouse, white tights, dark dress shoes
    • 4-6: Plaid skirt, long-sleeve peter pan blouse, white tights, dark dress shoes
Girls 7-8
  • Designated school skirt in navy (plain front or pleated) or plaid (pleated or kilt)
  • Designated slacks in navy
  • Shirts:
    • Designated white button down oxford;short or long-sleeved white, hunter green or yellow  polo shirt or turtleneck
    • Designated sweaters or vests in navy, yellow or hunter green with school logo over collared shirts
    • Designated sweatshirts or hoodies in navy, hunter green or gray with school logo/crest over collared shirts
  • Shoes and socks:
    • Navy, hunter green or white knee socks, tights or hose must be worn with skirts. No ankle socks.
    • Dark dress shoes with closed toe and solid back
  • Dress Uniform:
    • Plaid skirt, long-sleeve white blouse, nylons or white knee socks, dark dress shoes
Girls 9-12
  • Designated school skirt in navy (pleated or plain front), plaid (pleated or kilt) or khaki (pleated or plain front)
  • Designated slacks in navy or khaki
  • Shirts:
    • Designated button down white oxford;short or long-sleeved white, hunter green, yellow or navy  polo shirt or turtleneck
    • Designated sweaters or vests in navy, yellow or hunter green with school logo/crest over collared shirts
    • Designated sweatshirts or hoodies in navy, hunter green or gray with school logo/crest over collared shirts
  • Shoes and socks:
    • Socks or tights may be navy, white or khaki and cover the ankle
    • Dark dress shoes with closed toe and solid back
  • Dress Uniform:
    • Plaid skirt, long-sleeve white blouse, nylons or white knee socks, dark dress shoes
All Girls K-12
  • Skirt and short length should be less than 4” above the floor when kneeling
  • All undershirts/t-shirts must be solid white and short-sleeved
  • Single pair of earrings only
Boys K-6
  • Designated shorts or pants in solid navy
  • Shirts:
    • Designated button down oxford, polo or turtleneck solid white or hunter green -short or long-sleeved
    • Designated sweaters or vests in navy or hunter green with school logo/crest over collared shirts
    • Designated sweatshirts in navy, hunter green or gray with school logo/crest over collared shirts
  • Shoes and socks:
    • Socks must be navy or white and cover the ankle
    • Tennis shoes or dark dress shoes with closed toe and solid back

    • Navy pant, white long-sleeve button down oxford, dark dress shoes, belt
Boys 7-8
  • Designated pants in solid navy
  • Shirts:
    • Designated button down oxford, polo or turtleneck in solid white, hunter green or yellow - short or long-sleeved
    • Designated sweaters or vests in navy, yellow or hunter green with school logo over collared shirts
    • Designated sweatshirts or hoodies in navy, hunter green or gray with school logo/crest over collared shirts
  • Shoes and socks:
    • Socks must be navy or black and cover the ankle
    • Dark dress shoes with closed toe and solid back
  • Dress Uniform:
    • Navy pant, white long-sleeve button down oxford, dark dress shoes, belt
Boys 9-12
  • Designated pants in solid navy or khaki
  • Shirts:
    • Designated button down oxford, polo or turtleneck in solid white, hunter green, yellow or navy short or long-sleeved
    • Designated sweaters or vests in navy, yellow or hunter green with school logo/crest over collared shirts
    • Designated sweatshirts or hoodies in navy, hunter green or gray with school logo/crest over collared shirts
  • Shoes and socks:
    • Socks should be navy, black or khaki and cover the ankle
    • Dark dress shoes with closed toe and solid back
  • Dress Uniform:
    • Navy pant, white long-sleeve button down oxford, dark dress shoes, belt
All Boys K-12
  • Hair should be a conservative cut so it is above the eyebrows, ears and collar with no extreme styles. No facial hair is allowed below the ear, except as allowed for drama performances
  • No earrings or pierced jewelry
  • All undershirts/t-shirts must be solid white and short-sleeved
Physical Education Uniform 7-12
  • Athletic shorts or athletic long pants in solid navy or black (single stripe or small logos permitted)
  • T-shirt with school logo/crest in gray – short sleeve (1 shirt provided by school, additional shirts are available for purchase)
  • School sweatshirts may be used outside in cooler weather
All Students
  • All designated clothing items should be purchased at designated stores – see below
  • All shorts and pants must have belt loops and a plain dark belt must be worn, except for Kindergarten
  • All shirts must be tucked in at all times and may have one button unbuttoned
  • No jackets or coats may be worn in the classroom
  • All pants, slacks and shorts must we worn at the waist and not rolled up
  • Cargo and mini-styles are not permitted
  • No visible tattoos while in school uniform or while participating in school athletics
  • No hats are allowed at school or in classroom, except for winter hats which may be worn outside during recess
  • No clogs, boots or moccasins may be worn
  • Uniforms should be clean, neat and in good repair
  • Students will wear school uniforms on field trips unless designated differently by the teacher coordinating the trip
  • Unusual or outlandish styles as determined by the Headmaster are not allowed
Designated clothing items may be purchased from the school’s uniform provider Educational Outfitters (913-495-9488) and Lands End (1-800-741-6311). Selection guides are available by contacting these providers. We encourage you to purchase clothing items from these providers, rather than other stores. We do not want you to purchase an item you think will qualify and the school does not.
